Morning Prayer led by Phillip Dawson
Thursday 30th April 2020

Join me for Morning Prayer using the Common Worship order of service in contemporary language. We’ll be singing a hymn played by my friend Ben Schoeman – Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour – the words of the hymn will appear at the top of the screen. The Psalm for this morning is 136.

Today we remember the life of Pandita Mary Ramabai, translator of the scriptures. In our readings from scripture we hear of the offerings made by the Israelites to construct the tabernacle and in our gospel reading, of the naming of John the Baptist. In our prayers we will be remembering that God has called us all by name and offering ourselves to his service – and, in celebration of Mary Ramabai, who pioneered an Indian vision of the faith, during our worship we’ll be seeing ourselves in a new light, using the avatars of those who have liked our College Facebook page to create images of Christ based on work by artists from different cultures all around the world.

The order of service is at this link – but don’t worry if you can’t follow along – the text of the responses to our prayers will appear on screen :
